Product History
These great stuff-able liners, unique to McCash's Country Store, were re-invented by owner Alastair who can remember his father telling him that in days gone by dogs used to sleep on stuffed 'Palliasse Mattresses'. This was a sturdy case that was either stuffed with feathers or straw to make a mattress that could have it's filling changed regularly. Palliasse fabric was tightly woven to stop sharp stalks or quills poking through.

Alastair's own dog had itchy skin and after research, he was a bit alarmed to find out that all the stuffing in EU dog beds must contain fire retardant chemicals. Alastair thought his dog doesn't smoke, so why should his dog have to lay, sleep and groom on a chemical laced dog mattress for hours every day? After much trial and help from our supply partners Danish Design these modern stuffable liners and covers are now available at McCash's Country Store, 1 Feus Road, Perth. PH1 2AS

Alastair's Project :- Alastair cut down some Galium verum ( lady's bedstraw or yellow bedstraw) Fig.1 that was growing at the edge of his sheep's grazing meadow and some Lavandula (common name lavender) that was growing in his garden Fig 2. He tied them into small bunches and dried them in his garden potting shed Fig3. The bunches dried in a couple of weeks and then he took one of the bed inners and stuffed it with dry fresh straw, then incorporated the strongly scented dried flower bunches Fig.5. Then all there was left to do was to choose a 'Grey Bobble' cover from Danish Design to complete this wonderfully natural stuffed dog bed,
